CanSat Satellite Prototype

January 2023 — May 2023 · Ciudad Universitaria, Mexico

Role

Hardware & Software Development Lead

Competition

National CanSat Tournament

Result

22nd out of 101 teams

Overview

Led the development of a prototype "canned satellite" for capturing and transmitting physical measurements. The CanSat program is an international educational initiative where teams design a satellite the size of a soda can, launched to an altitude of approximately 1 km by a rocket or drone. The satellite descends via parachute while transmitting telemetry data to a ground station in real time.

Key Achievements

  • Led the hardware and software integration for the full satellite prototype.
  • Designed and implemented real-time data visualization and analysis systems for sensor telemetry.
  • Integrated multiple physical sensors for capturing environmental measurements during flight.
  • Secured 22nd place out of 101 teams in the national CanSat tournament.
  • Solidified skills in interdisciplinary project leadership, combining embedded systems, physics, and software engineering.
